Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori

This week is Maori Language week. To celebrate we have been practicing our loopy game in Te Reo. This is what we did today!!!!!!!!!

Taking Risks with Room 1!

Rumours' Buddy
On Tuesday the 28th of June Room 1 came to Room 10 for taking risks. My buddy's name is Tazman and I supported her by cheering her on and helping her through every thing. I helped her through things that she was scared of but she could do the rest of the things on her own because she was brave. I think it is an important job because they will learn things on there own when they grow up. I learned that when you grow up you can figure things on your own by believing you can do it.

My buddy was Alaric from Room 1 and I supported him by saying you can do it. I helped Alaric do things he was scared of and I would let him do the things he knows. It is an important job so that when they grow up they will know what to do. I learnt that if you help them and teach them they will understand what to do when they are older like Room 10.

Statistics

We were looking at the probability of throwing heads-heads, tails-tails or heads-tails. Our graph shows that heads-tails is most likely because it has a probability of 50% an the others only have a probability of 25%

Slogans

We have been working on developing slogans for our companies. Slogans are short phrases that stick in your head, eg: I'm Lovin' It (Mc Donalds)

Good bye 2010

This year has been full on. At every minute of the day we would have something to do. Maybe it may have been quite hard or quite easy, but we had a go at everything. For an example year 5 and 6 have gone to a camp called Forest lakes. We had a lot of fun, nearly all the people were scared of the water slide and thought it was hard. But they had a go and over came there fears, after they had gone down the water slide they felt really proud of their selves. As you can see we had a lot of fun and there are more stories to tell. 2010 has been a very busy, happy,amazing year.

Forces

Today in theme we investigated the different forces on the Earth.

Aim: To find out why and how we stay on Earth

Equipment: Ourselves, bucket, and water.

Method:

1. Fill bucket 1/2 way with water.
2. Pick up bucket with dominant arm.
3. Swing bucket around body like doing freestyle as fast as you can.

What happened:
The water stayed in the bucket because we spun the bucket and the force kept the water at the bottom of the bucket.

How this affects us on Earth:

• The Earth is covered in water.
• The Earth is spinning on its axis.
• That is why we have gravity.

Gravity is the force that keeps us on the ground!!!!

'What goes up, must come down!!!'

Production

Last week the whole school was involved in our amazing production, Chocolate Fish, Gumboots and Number 8 Wire. It was a variety show that showcased kiwiana at its best. Our class item was a dance to the gumboot song. Here are some of the photos from the show.

Forest Lakes 2010

In Room 10 we have been learning to inform others. We have done this by writing captions for some of our camp photos. We hope you enjoy them :)

Slippery Slidey: Taylah slides down the wet slidey water slide at Forest Lakes, "Ahh, that's cold!" she screamed as she flies down.

Boom: Boom! Taylah went flying from the water slide and Taylah nearly did a half back flip at Forest Lakes Camp.

Down, Down, Splash: Taylah zooms down the water slide and goes airborne into the lake three weeks ago at Forest Lakes.

Zoom: Three weeks ago something came zooming down the mudslide, it was Gordon at Forest Lakes. SPLASH, mud went all over the place!

Wow: Gordon went zooming down the mud slide he went so fast that he went into the stinky mud at Forest Lakes.

Slippery Mud Slide: Gordon went as fast as light. We couldn't believe the splash in the mud at Forest Lakes.

Bump Bump: Three weeks ago at Forest Lakes Camp, Rumours went on the bumpy brown fluffy horse up the road and to the big hill and went back down.
