Earth, Moon and Sun

In Room 10 we have been learning how the Sun and the Moon affect us on Earth. We have learned that:

  • the moon takes 29 and 1/3 days to make one orbit around the Earth.
  • it takes the Earth 365.24 days to orbit around the Sun.
  • it takes 24 hours for the Earth to rotate once on its axis
This is why we have years, months and days.

We had a play with balls to show how the Earth, Sun and Moon are related.
Staring:
Sam: Sun
Peter: Moon
Kaea: Earth

Speech Finals 2010

I was shaking so bad, I was about to burst. I kept saying to my self "It's time, it's time for me to shine and represent Lytton Street School. My family was supporting me and others, suddenly my name was called! Hey it's finished it was not bad at all, it felt good to be representing my school. Now one thing to do 3,2,1 now the nerves were back. The announcer said "3rd is someone from North Street School." I still have a chance to be number one. Aaaaaa! Oh my gosh they said my name for first. I came first equal with a boy from Saint Josephs. What a great night that was.

Term 4

Welcome back everyone!!!! What a great start to a busy term. I hope everyone had a great break and you are feeling refreshed for the last term of 2010!!!!

There is lots going on this term. Please make sure you bring appropriate footwear and clothing for cross country and athletics practice. Remember Cross country isn't far away now so if you are a serious competitor this year try and do some training in your own time.

Our big idea for the term is evaluation. Please think carefully about what you would like to achieve this term and what I can do to help you achieve your goals. Remember to make your goals realistic and achievable.

We are going to be looking at planet earth and beyond so have a think about what you know and what you would like to find out.

It's going to be a busy but enjoyable term. Let's keep the momentum going from day 1!!!!!!

Miss Main :)
