Today we read the poem, "Wastebasket Brother" and looked at the 'K' sound.

Welcome to Term Two!!!!!

Welcome back everyone!!!!! I hope everyone had a relaxing break and indulged in some yummy Easter Eggs!!! We have another long term to look forward to but there is lots going on to keep us busy. In week 2 we are off to the Army Museum in Waiouru, keep those permission slips and $3.50 coming in. We are continuing with our PrEP and Market Day is planned for Thursday 9 June, I hope you can come along and see all the amazing work we have put in to it. We also have interviews coming up in Week 11 but feel free to come in and make an appointment if you have any queries.

Yesterday we held job interviews to find our C.E.O.s of our companies. It was a daunting task for our applicants but we now have 4 very capable children as our C.E.O.s and I look forward to working with them!!!!

WALT: Write a cover letter!

We have been learning to write cover letters. These are letters to employers that explain why they should employ us and the skills we would bring to the company. Here is an example of one of our letters!

Duffy Roadshow

On 11 April we were very lucky and had the Duffy Roadshow come to L.S.S!!!!!!! It was about someone that wanted to close all public library's down!!!!!! But Duffy and Tiake stopped him. He thought everyone wanted to play golf more so we had a debate, luckily we have been learning how to persuade others. We won!!!!!! We learned about BRR (and no it's not just a sound you make when you are cold) At the library we Borrow, Read and Return - this allows all children to be able to read cool books and go on awesome adventures. Duffy Assembly

Lytton Street School had two very special visitors come to visit today. Marry Kippenberger and Peter Charlton-Jones came and entertained us and gave us our Duffy Books. Pentathlon 2011

Pentathlon 2011

I jumped out of the mini van at Massey University Athletic Track. I was a little nervous and excited all at the same time. I looked around and I saw some other schools there. The first event was 60m sprint "On your marks, get set! BANG" I was off running as fast as I could over the finish line. Yay! I had won. The next events were shot put and discus. I had to throw each 3 times. The competition was tough. I threw my hardest and I won both those events as well! I couldn't believe it. We then moved to Long Jump. I was thinking, "Oh No! I hate this one!" I ran along the strip and skipped into the sand. I came last in that event. The last event was the 400m. I was getting really nervous as I watched the races before me. Then it was my turn. I lined up with the other girls, my heart was racing. The gun went, "BANG!" I ran as fast as I could. I came around the final bend, down the straight. I could see the finish line. "Come on Sarah!" I said to myself. I dug it in and crossed the line. I couldn't believe I had won! Overall 10 year old girl winner, I felt very proud of myself!

Buddy Reading

Today we visited Room 1 to read them a story. We had so much fun reading Miss Sharland's books! Thanks for having us Room 1!

We have been lucky enough to have a visitor from Sport Manawatu come to school and help us with our athletics. We really noticed the improvement on athletics day. Here are some photos of us learning how to hammer throw.

As part of our big idea this term, PARTICIPATING & CONTRIBUTING, Lytton Street School Senior Stars have started the PrEp programme. We get to make our own businesses and have a market day to sell our creations. We have looked at what a business is and have worked out what we want to do......see how far we have come.
